The College of Pharmacy, University of Babylon, holds a seminar on smoking, its causes, and treatment methods.
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Amin Ajeel Yasser, President of the University of Babylon, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hussam Wahab Saheb, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, the Women s Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Babylon, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the college, held a seminar on smoking, its causes, and treatment methods. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Samah Ahmed Kazim, a liaison member of the Women s Affairs Unit at the college, and presented by M.M. Ataa Khalil. The seminar was held on Wednesday, March 17, 2025, as part of the implementation plan for the national policy to improve occupational health and safety. The seminar aimed to introduce smoking, its types, and passive smoking and their impact on the health of smokers and those around them. This seminar has significant negative health effects and can lead to many diseases, including cancer, heart and lung diseases, as well as its psychological and economic impacts.
The seminar recommended the need to increase community awareness and education about the various harms resulting from smoking, avoid smoky environments, and exercise, as exercise contributes to reducing stress and increasing feelings of well-being. In addition, it included consuming Healthy food that promotes overall health.
